NEWS

PPA MESA WINNERS!!!

Ben & Collin didn’t make it to the finals this time! Daescu & Tardio actually defeated the #1 seed in Semi-Finals in two games! Ben got hit in the face at the start of the match, and it seems he fell out of the mental space he could’ve used to take over and win. Daescu & Tardio made it all the way to the finals but lost to JW Johnson & Frazier! Frazier!

This Mesa event is what started it all years ago! To think about how many new players are storming their way into the Top 100, Top 50, and even Top 10 is blowing everybody away. New people are getting the limelight and putting up huge fights against the best players in the world! Who knows, maybe we’re just a few new, perfect duo’s away from taking trophies home instead of the usual winners!

For Proton paddles, give PBJourney a try for 10% off!

Proton is an otherworldly company in the pickleball realm as of late.

The creators are/were engineers of aircraft and use high quality materials in the making of their unique products! The Series 3 will most likely appeal to a broader spectrum of the pickleball community because of the Raw Carbon Fiber!

Our RPM test came out to - 1975

Surprisingly, this is slightly below the top tier spin for paddles that are coming out as of late!

Our Swing Weight test came out to - 126

This swing weight is much lower than the Series One we recently tested. Still on the higher end, yet this just means more power, and stability if that is your priority in a paddle!

Our Twist Weight test came out to - 6.9

6.9 is definitely on the higher end of the spectrum! Most paddles fall within the 6.0 to 6.7 range! Paddle companies are learning how to make massive, sweet spots nowadays.

Tip #1 - Step In With Your Opposite Foot!

A Two-Handed shot (commonly known as a Twoey) will always add more stability, control, power, faster hands battles, and even more spin! We got so used to watching pro’s do everything one handed, but two-handed shots are becoming the thing that separates whole skill levels!

Usually, you want to step in with your opposite foot, creating a momentum going THRU the ball. You want your weight shifting forward.

Tip #2 - Keep the Paddle Tip Low

Getting that paddle tip LOW. With a 2 handed drive, you want your paddle a little more to the side, but with a drop, you “DROP” your paddle tip low, to be able to have a brushing motion. This will help you get under the ball more, creating that arch that drops tend to have.

TIP #3 - Pushing Out

Pushing out, then up while doing your drop is ideal. If you JUST swing up, it will usually be a pop up for your opponent. If you JUST push out, it will be more of a drive and may hit the net more often. Pushing out and finishing up high will not only create the top spin you need, but the arch that is necessary for a drop! You want to make sure you keep your paddle tip low, your momentum forward, and low to high like a brush! The “pushing” is what you will use to direct your drop, whether cross court, middle, or straight ahead!
