PICKLEBALL JOURNEY TIPS!
If You Do This at The KITCHEN, You Will Level Up!

Drill #1 - Take Time Away

Not taking balls out of the air leaves room for your opponent to take control of the court, and the point! Taking time away from your opponent by volleying their dinks, makes them create errors, gets them out of position, and puts continuous pressure on them! When you hit the ball as early as you can, your opponent will notice you aren’t afraid!

Drill #2 - Dink Technique

Using your wrist too much will almost guarantee you to pop up balls, hit them wide, or into the net! Especially when you’re nervous! You want to make sure you lock your wrist and use your shoulder to dink firmly!

Drill #3 - Paddle Position

Having your paddle position in the correct spot dependent on the placement of the ball can save you errors and create you points! This is a percentage game! When you follow the ball with your paddle you will naturally be more ready than your opponents!

Why #1 - Drop to backhand!

When your opponent hits a third shot drop to your backhand, you can apply the same amount of pace, and spin as you can with a forehand to keep them back! This can make it, so your opponents don’t consider your backhand weak!

Why #2 - 1 handed backhand!

When you only use one handed backhands, you limit your stability, consistency, shot placement, spin, and pace! Sure, a two-handed backhand may require a tad more footwork, but one “con” versus 4 other “pros” isn’t worth missing out on! This will truly make your backhand a weapon

Tip #1 - Spin!

One of the most important times to use top spin is on your serves! When you make impact below the ball and follow through upwards, you naturally create top spin that will allow you to hit deeper and make the ball jump towards your opponents!

Tip #2 - Power!

You may have power, but can you deflect it?! When playing against “bangers” you may struggle if you can’t respond to power!

Having a proper stance, reaction time, and paddle positioning is vital to your success against hard hitters. Have an open stance a little wider than shoulder width, slight bend to knees, your paddle shortly out in front, and stiff compact strokes!

Tip #3 - Deception!

When you can be aggressive without taking a big back swing, you’re on the way to leveling up! Another way to be deceptive is to be aggressive when your opponents don’t expect it! For example, speeding up a ball out of the air! This will take time away from your opponent to react to!
