NOW - on to the Pros!

Here is the updated official rankings of PPA Tour!

This is great to see so many up-and-coming players jumping up the ranks! There are young, athletic and energetic players that are climbing to the top year after year!

We are reaching a point where we are getting different, unique styles of play frequently and almost no matchup is the same! Of course, we are not surprised to see Ben, Collin, and Anna standing at the top. Yet, even they are anticipating more and more challenges as time goes on! These TOP 10 players have to work hard day and night to not only keep their physical game up, but their mental game up! Ben and Collin are known for studying their opponents with every bit of information they can get!

Shout out to the people leading the way for us!

The drive in pickleball can be a shot that distinguishes you from your opponents. It can help you beat lower-level players more handily and can help you keep up with those who are a level above you. Here are 5 Do’s and Don'ts with drives!

NOW - What is a drive? A drive is when you hit the ball hard, and low over the net!

1 - Don’t Hit Your Drive With an Open Stance! - Too often people hit drives with an open stance. What you want to do is step in with the OPPOSITE foot you’re hitting with. Let’s say you’re a righty! If you’re hitting a FOREHAND: LEFT FOOT. If you’re hitting a BACKHAND: RIGHT FOOT. Use your feet to transfer momentum into the court, through the ball.

2 - Don’t Have the Paddle Tip Down! - When we dink, and drop, we want our paddle tip down, but don’t get too comfortable! When we hit a drive we want our paddle pointed to the side, in a “C” like motion.

3 - Don’t Swing Big When Hitting Drives! - A lot of people have a huge backswing in preparation for a drive. When you do this, you may get a lot of power, but you lose control! You want to keep it compact and short, keep your paddle and swing into your peripherals! This is where that “C” motion will help the most!

4 - Don’t Keep Your Shoulders Open When Hitting Drives! - One thing to help close your shoulders, is when you take the back swing, touch your paddle the whole way with that “C” motion. This will force your legs, hips, core, and shoulders to rotate with your swing, causing a more powerful accurate drive!

5 - Don’t Hit Your Weaker Shot If Possible! - If you can, without causing yourself trouble, run around to your preferred side! (Most peoples preferred side is forehand.) This doesn’t mean that your weaker side is bad, just something to use more often if you’re better at a shot!
