Joola & Tyson, New Balls!!!
As we all know, there are some massive changes coming to the world of pickleball in 2024!
The biggest face of Selkirk is now with Joola!!! People are speculating that his signature paddle will be called the Magnus! There was a short clip on his story of him playing with it, and it sounded like one of the new Pro Gearbox paddles! Is Joola trying to catch up to the hype? Will these extra powerful paddles stay in the game? We’ll have to see!
As of today, DEKEL BAR: the biggest serve in the game is now signed with Joola also!
People thought Tyson leaving Selkirk would be a huge deal, but there’s EVEN MORE rave about the new official Vulcan balls of PPA, and APP!
To start off, people are wondering whether the new PPA Vulcan ball was decided based off the $2,500,000 offering, or that it is the preferred ball of the pros. Regardless, PPA will get 8% royalty of all ball sales. Some pros have not even received balls to try out, and practice with for the first tournament of the year, let alone amateurs! Here comes the biggest issue that the pickleball population is having……
$25 for a 6 pack.
$50 for a 12 pack.
$410 for 100.
Keep in mind, that 100 Dura Fast 40’s are ALMOST HALF THE PRICE depending on where you find them!

WHAT’S NEW
Six Zero Ruby 16mm is officially in!!! AND we the new Black Diamond Infinity was just released (results coming soon).

RUBY: Made with a Kevlar & Carbon Fiber face, supposedly providing higher spin, more durability, and a unique feel!
Six Zero has been on the top of the list for most anticipated paddle releases, yet some say the results are underwhelming! What are your thoughts?
Twist Weight - 6.8 - on the higher end of most paddles. Anything around 7 on the twist weight spectrum is above average on a stock paddle when it comes to forgiveness.
Swing Weight - 117 - This is actually on the heavier end compared to most Hybrid shaped paddles! The Kevlar definitely adds some weight to it!
RPM - 1866 - For all the praise on the high-quality face material, this is slightly below average than the most recent popular paddle releases! Maybe the spin will last longer than average! Only time will tell! Keep in mind, 100-200 in RPM difference is hardly noticeable to the human eye.

TIP OF THE WEEK
2024 Pickleball Rule Changes to Know!
New Rule #1 - 4.B.9 - “Fix It First Referee”
The referee will confirm and correct, if necessary, that all players are in the correct position and the correct server has the ball before calling the score.
This will help the players that are so in the game, they forget where they’re at!
New Rule #2 - 7.L - “Catch or Carry”
A referee used to determine whether the player meant to “carry” the ball with their paddle mid-swing. To make this less controversial, and simpler, if it is a carry, it is illegal. This is different then the double hit rule, in which the double hit has to be one motion for it to be legal.
New Rule #3 - “Drapey Net Rule”
A replay will occur if the ball goes over the net and: hits the center base; hits any part of the horizontal bar; the ball gets caught between the net and the horizontal bar; hits a deflecting net; hits a draping net on the ground. Last year, this was a decision that would be discussed, but now it is an automatic replay!
New Rule #4 - 11.E - “Ball Crack Replay Rule”
If the ball cracks during the point, all players must agree that the ball impacted the outcome of the point. This may be controversial, but it doesn’t get replayed if the ball is soft, warped, etc.
New Rule #5 - 12.0 - “Mini-Singles”
Basically, this will be singles, but on just half the court. This may be a new favorite for amateurs simply because it’s not as strenuous as regular singles. We think the biggest challenge with this will be the scheduling of this event during all the other events as well.

RECOVERY
STRETCHES/EXERCISES
You want Dynamic Stretching before you play, which is used to warm up your muscles and joints, lubricating them with blood and lactic acid. An example is jogging in place, or arm swings. If you STRETCH before you play you may feel weak and hurt yourself.
You want to STATIC stretch, like touching your toes AFTER you play. Your muscles and joints are tight, so you want to stretch them so they can recover better!
PRE-GAME EXERCISE ROUTINE
Jog in Place for 3 minutes
Arm Circles for 1 minute
Leg Swings for 1 minute
Torso Rotations for 1 minute
Hamstring Stretches for 1 minute
Hip Flexor Stretches for 1 minute
POST GAME EXERCISE ROUTINE
Hamstring stretch: Sitting on the ground with your legs extended, reach for your toes to elongate your hamstrings.
Quad stretch: Standing on one leg, bend the other and grab your foot behind you, feeling the stretch in your thigh.
Calf stretch: Place your hands on a wall, with one leg extended behind you and the other slightly bent. Lean into the wall to stretch your calf muscles.
